In my view, the ‘Christian’ world through its behaviour across history created Israel not the Jews or, specifically, left the Jews no other choice, particularly after the Nazis. While the views amongst Jews are not monolithic, the dominant majority are now doing to the Palestinians what was done to them. In Gaza, the story is repeated – bait, bomb, truce > bait, bomb, truce.. Each time far more Palestinians (particularly women and children) are killed than Jews and the circumstances of the Palestinians are further degraded. But as a Palestinian said on an excellent documentary I recently put on my blog, no state founded on hatred or in which hatred plays such a key part can survive as such. The recent rioting and violence between Jews and Arabs in Israel (the Israeli population is 25% Arab) is, in my view, a pointer to what will develop – a new state shared equally between the Jews and the Arabs in it and the very depth of pain that they all have experienced (including historically) will be one of the deepest uniting bonds between them. But this certainly will not happen until the US capitalist class, rampaging around the world in its decline, followed by its lap-dog Australia, and which uses Israel as a key element in its Middle-East strategy, through the US nation as a whole has lost its global predominance and China has taken the lead. This may not be ’till next century. What do you think?
